Development History Of Redispersible Latex Powder:
The research of redispersible rubber powder began in 1934 with the polyvinyl acetate redispersible latex powder of I.G.Farbenindus AC company of Germany and the powder latex of Japan. After World War II, the serious lack of labor and construction resources forced Europe, especially Germany, to use a variety of powder building materials to improve construction efficiency. In the late 1950s, Germany's Hearst Company and Wacker Chemical Company began the industrial production of redispersive latex powder. At that time, redispersible latex powder is mainly polyvinyl acetate type, mainly used for woodworking glue, wall primer and cement wall material. However, due to PVAc powder's low film forming temperature, poor water resistance, poor alkaline resistance and other performance limitations, its use is greatly limited.
With VAE emulsions and VA/VeoVa and other emulsions industrialization success, last century in the 1960s, the lowest film forming temperature of 0℃, with good water resistance and alkali resistance of redispersible latex powder was developed, then, its application has been widely promoted in Europe. The scope of use has also gradually expanded to a variety of structural and non-structural building adhesives, dry mixed mortar modification, wall insulation and finishing system, wall leveling adhesive and sealing plaster, powder coating, construction putty field.
