1) Aparença: HPMC és un èter de cel·lulosa no iònic, pols o grànul blanc grisenc, inodor i sense sabor,

soluble en aigua freda, àcid acètic glacial, etanol, metanol i propilenglicol, lleugerament soluble en acetona segons

sobre el grau de substitucions, pràcticament insolubles en aigua calenta, etilenglicol i toluè. HPMC es dissol en a

barreja d'un 10% de metanol i un 90% de clorur de metilè per formar solucions col·loïdals.

2) La solució de HPMC té activitat superficial, alta transparència i rendiment estable. Quan s'escalfa a cert

temperatura, la solució es torna tèrbola o forma un gel floculent. Tanmateix, la solució torna a ser clara després de refredar-se.
