1) Izgled: HPMC je neionski celulozni eter, bijeli sivkasto-bijeli prah ili granula, bez mirisa i okusa,

topiv u hladnoj vodi, ledenoj octenoj kiselini, etanolu, metanolu i propilen glikolu, slabo topiv u acetonu ovisno

na stupanj supstitucije, praktički netopljiv u vrućoj vodi, etilen glikolu i toluenu. HPMC je otopljen u a

mješavina 10% metanola i 90% metilen klorida da nastane koloidna otopina.

2) Otopina HPMC ima površinsku aktivnost, visoku transparentnost i stabilne performanse. Pri zagrijavanju na određene

temperature, otopina postaje mutna ili stvara flokulantni gel. Međutim, otopina ponovno postaje bistra nakon hlađenja.

Različite vrste HPMC imaju različite temperature geliranja. Topivost varira s viskoznošću. Što je niži
