1) Útlit: HPMC er ójónaður sellulósaeter, hvítt gráhvítt duft eða korn, lyktarlaust og bragðlaust,

leysanlegt í köldu vatni, ísediksýra, etanól, metanól og própýlenglýkól, örlítið leysanlegt í asetoni

á hversu mikið skiptingarnar eru, nánast óleysanlegar í heitu vatni, etýlen glýkól og tólúen. HPMC er leyst upp í a

blanda af 10% metanóli og 90% metýlenklóríði til að mynda kvoðulausnir.
