1) Penampilan: HPMC adalah eter selulosa nonionik, bubuk atau butiran putih keabu-abuan, tidak berbau dan tidak berasa,

larut dalam air dingin, asam asetat glasial, etanol, metanol dan propilen glikol, sedikit larut dalam aseton tergantung

berdasarkan tingkat substitusi, praktis tidak larut dalam air panas, etilen glikol dan toluena. HPMC dilarutkan dalam a

campuran 10% metanol dan 90% metilen klorida membentuk larutan koloid.

2) Solusi HPMC memiliki aktivitas permukaan, transparansi tinggi, dan kinerja stabil. Bila dipanaskan pada suhu tertentu

suhu, larutan menjadi keruh atau membentuk gel flokulan. Namun, larutan menjadi jernih kembali setelah pendinginan.
